I try never to take myself too seriously and clicking photos to use for my blog or newsletter is never without silliness. Being in front of a camera is not in my comfort zone, so using my studio, favorite clothes or accessories, and props of the art lying around can distract my self consciousness. My equipment is a Canvas Light and a handheld clicker so I can snap a LOT of photos to end up with a couple that are usable. I can also use the Canvas Light for creating my stop motion animations, tutorials, and demos. You just pop your iPhone into the clamp and off you go with whatever you need to do. This leads into the stop motion story below.
LEAF DANCING GIRL (Yes, that’s a real leaf!)
Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and walking as the storms come blowing in is so exhilarating. Colorful leaves skitter across the sidewalks with rustling that electrifies the air and the complex smells jump like pogo sticks in erratic patterns around my bundled body!
After gathering a few brilliant leaves in my pocket, I knew when I returned home a quick stop motion had to be created quickly. Have you ever noticed how the leaves shrivel up almost before your eyes when you get them inside? I shifted my studio desk piles and used an oversized sketchbook with a worn cover as my background as I could not find anything pure black to set off the leaves and girl. Enjoy a short moment of stop motion fun and click below. Yippee For Fall!
MORE COLOR LOVE!
I try to mix up the art mediums that I use when experimenting in my sketchbooks and watercolors were first on my list. This was a primary color challenge and the colors just sing at the top of their tubes!
On my daily walk today, I had the most amazing color experience! Gazing down the street, a woman dressed in a brilliant red parka and lightening bolts of yellow sneakers was walking toward me with her pup (who also happened to be wearing a bright red fleece coat). My colors of the day were all shades of popping blue. When we got next to one another, I joked with her about being “primary friends” and we should stick together! We shared a great laugh and were both happy to have bumped into each other :)
Quirky Word Sentences From Upcycled Books
Yesterday, I was going through my flat file drawers looking for a piece of art and came across this. Keeping bowls of cut up words on my studio table is a helpful creative resource. I remember the ideas were not flowing when I made this. I started putting random words together and these odd mixtures came to be. There is one word missing in the dark blue line. What do you think it is? I’m keeping this out on my studio table to glance at as this could be an unusual painting series to create. If you were to choose for me, which one should be first?
The Owl Flew Out Of The Wall
A large gray retaining wall is on one of walking routes and this caught my eye suddenly when I gave it a sideways glance. First, the brilliant fuchsia leaves wowed me, then the deep green moss got my imagination going. I’m seeing an owl in flight coming straight in but it also could be a bat. What do you see? I love how everyone’s minds work so beautifully different.
Saving A Sketchbook Page : A Visual Tale
Last night, I threw up my hands in frustration and cut this page out of my Imaginollage sketchbook. I thought it would be easy, but I got sad. How can this be possible? My trash bin is right under my table so I peered inside and saw the page staring up at me. Please click on the button below to find out how this ends.
Thanks for giving my blog a read and I appreciate your time. If you have any questions or things you would like to see, please let me know. See you soon!
Beautiful work, Coco, I am looking forward to reading your future posts!
I’ve seeing your colourful work and projects, thanks for sharing.
