Rock Balancing
For Valentineโs Day, my boyfriend and I went away to celebrate on beautiful Whidbey Island north of Seattle. We always make time to walk on this beach at Ebeyโs Landing. As we parked the car, a truly miraculous event was unfolding before us.
We rarely get the opportunity to see this perseverance, creative connectivity, and determination of the human spirit happening before our eyes. As our car rolled to stop, the fascination of what was appearing before our eyes brought a quiet moment of wonderment! This man truly was feeling the energy and sense of balance of this rock!
The physical strength to move that rock and the uncertainty of the wood plank holding this massive boulder filled the air! It was a sacred moment between this man and the stone so we honored his space and went for our walk wondering what we would see upon our return 45 minutes later.
As we got back to the car, I felt great pride for this manโs accomplishment! The pedestal rock now had two other beauties balanced perfectly on top of it! His physical outline beside this rock balancing creation was perfection! I thought he was done but my intuition told me to wait!
He had rested so a third rock could be balanced upon the pedestal stone. I had missed seeing it lying off to the side in the previous photo. How did he know what rocks to use for this natural sculpture?
With great focus and determination, the rock was hoisted with all his remaining strength as uncertainity breathed down his neckโฆwould it work?!
WOW! HE DID IT!
I was happy to make eye contact and give him a smile of deep appreciation before he wandered off to the edge of the ocean to absorb what he just had accomplished.
My inquisitive mind had some many questions for him but this was not the space nor time to ask them. Iโm just thankful for the experience of watching this unfold! Creativity is alive and well in the universe โจ
Wing The Pencil was inspired by the gulls everywhere on our mini vacation.
A fox seemed like the right animal to pair with a gull as it symbolizes good luck plus a message to take action. The rock balancing series of photos above is a great reminder of this.
I recently reread the book Jonathon Livingston Seagull written by Richard Bach. It was first published in 1970 and has a timeless message to inspire one and all! I highly recommend this book!
The Fox Observed While The Gull Pondered
The graphite of Wing had a satisfying scratch sound as I drew varied marks into the textured paper surface. Do you ever listen to the artistic tool you are using and how it sounds on the surface youโre working on? The nuances are inspirational and soothing โ๏ธ๐จ๐๏ธ
On The Beach
The beauty, energy, and scope of the ocean affect us all in different ways. I find inspiration, love of Mother Nature, and hope fill my soul. What do you experience when you walk by the sea? (Thank you to my boyfriend for sharing this photo with us all.)
Beach combing is a favorite activity for us! The white lines on black rocks are the big finds on these beaches along with an occasional shell shard. I only pick up ones that speak to me and have their own unique personality.
A Collection of Some Beauties
The joy of beach combing is matched by the satisfaction of arranging them afterwards on a table. My favorite in the group above is the lower right rock with the lightbulb motif!
Do you like to arrange your beach comb finds too?
Morning Vacation View At Our Table
Taking time to daydream was irresistible on this vacation! I had the joy of sitting at this lovely table, first thing daily, before jumping into our various adventures. I have never painted a boat, but that memorable vessel was always in my view. Youโll be seeing a colorful version of it here soon and a couple doodles too!
Whenever I try a new subject or object, I get intimidated and my self confidence does a loopy loop! Does this happen to you?
Stellar Jay Riding The Giant Peanut
I thought it would be fun to end this with a happy doodle. Everyday, I feed our Stellar Jays peanuts as a morning treat. I think we are on the 8th or 9th generation now and some familial traits seem to carry over. They loudly tap on surfaces, make a distinctive series of chirping sounds, or just become feathery fluff balls (this time of year they do as itโs chilly) and hang out on the table or railings observing us.
What type of birds visit you?
