Walking daily is one of my great joys and idea brainstorming times. The other day, I glanced up while on a different route and about 10’ feet above my head was this wondrous gnome! In an instant, I was swept away into the world of daydreaming. What carries you off to a different place in time like this?
Seeing this little gnome swinging above my head also made me appreciate the person that accomplished this brave act. This walkway is a trestle style bridge above a 30’ ravine. Placing this little guy up there must have been a sight to behold! The imaginative person behind this also has hidden little gnomes all around the ravine area so every time you walk over the bridge, a delightful new sighting is discovered down below.
Towel Thingamajig Sketchbook Doodle
When Seattle has brilliant sunshine this time of year, I’m always intrigued by the dramatic shadows made by the simplest objects. As I was grabbing the hand towel to dry my face, this wild zigzag edge pattern on the wall stopped me. Instead of taking a photo as my hands were dripping wet, my mind clicked the image so I could doodle this later during breakfast.
Letting my black ink brush pen wiggle back and forth was a silly line dance as I doodled this character in my sketchbook. Click below to watch a demo.
A Memorable Dog
As a dog lover, I always find new canine friends when out and about. Mick is a shelter dog that had 3 homes before finding his forever home with Lacy. They adore each other and are inseparable now.
It was discovered that Mick had the gift to connect with people in a wondrous and loving way. Several days a week, he and his owner make special trips to the local hospital to snuggle with, cheer up, and calm the patients of all ages.
Mick’s eyes touch your soul and I’ll never forget this special little guy.
Great Blue Heron
As I was walking yesterday, a strong vibrational swoosh of wings right overhead made me stop in my tracks. I was shocked to see this beautiful Great Blue Heron right above me! It took my breath away and then, this magnificent bird, glided to a stop on this nearby chimney. Wow! I was thankful to have experienced this unexpected moment plus have time to snap a few photos.
Hopscotch
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.”
George Bernard Shaw
This quote is pinned up on my bulletin board which I look at daily. Remembering to keep that inner child alive takes hard work as we age, especially as we crest mid life to explore the other side. For my creativity, keeping that imagination sparkling is tied to that curiosity and love of play.
When I came upon this colorful hopscotch game chalked on the sidewalk, of course, I had to try my old moves with a pine cone as there were no stones. My balance was not quite as good as when I was a girl but it sure made me giggle at myself! Do you remember playing hopscotch or jumprope?
