Moon & Two Birds
The realization of how the moon touches everyone across the world is breathtaking! Gazing up, we all see faces in that shining orb of light and we know itโs on view all the time somewhere! The stories we were told when we were kids brought wonder and fascination. I loved imagining the man on the moon and his life. Because I did not want him to be lonely, there were lots of exotic pets to keep him company in his cozy home!
On another note, I find moon faces (as well as people ones) are intimidating and the little nuances can impact what the viewer sees so dramatically. This painting was such a challenge and went through many changes before this final version. I think this moon face was redone about 12 times! Thank goodness for the layering capabilities of acrylic and Acryla Gouache paints!
What does the moon expression above share with you?
Wing The Pencil Scribbled a dog!
A Scruffy Dog
This doodle started with scribbling the elliptical head and then the pencil laid on its side and zigzagged everywhere! Shelter dogs are my favorite models!
I found the most inspiring photographic book in my favorite bookstore!
Take Me Home by Andrew Grant fills your heart with soul touching images of homeless and rescued dogs. He brought the dogs into his studio from the shelter to photograph them and their eyes tell you the story of how not to give up. Andrew has raised millions of dollars for animal rescues through the sales of a series of limited edition books through RoverWorks.org
Do you have a favorite animal rescue that you support? I continuously support Espanola Humane in Espanola, NM. My mom lives in Santa Fe, so that is how I learned about this animal rescue. They support underserved communities and are tireless angels in their commitment to make a difference. Check out their Instagram account for daily stories which will show how they are truly making a difference in that part of the country! I wish I could adopt all their animalsโฃ๏ธ
Adopt A Shelter Puppy Today
I took a photo of one of the puppies off their account and created this short video. I made it just for fun a while back. This dog did get adopted โค๏ธ๐ถโค๏ธ
A Robin Bathing
Walking without distractions heightens our observational senses! A subtle drip sound pulled my gaze into an alley and this robin stared in stillness as another droplet fell into the water. We both accessed one another and I asked her gently to wait so a photo could be snapped thinking of the reflection in the puddle. To my delight, this beautiful bird honored me by taking a full on bath!
Space Alien Or Friend?
This little device was on top of a huge support system to direct the Whidbey Island ferry into and out of the terminal. It captivated my imagination!
To share how a photo can inspire ideas, I want to introduce you to my new character, Mr Spacey!
Mr Spacey
This is the simple doodle I drew in Procreate and colored. The iPad is a great way to test out new ideas!
Mr Spacey On The Move
Hereโs a quick black line animation using my limited skills in the original Procreate. Iโm just beginning to learn the brand new app Procreate Dreams and challenge myself to bring my characters to life. They are all jamming up in my imagination doorway hoping to be the first ones to get animated ๐
The Eagles Are Nesting
This is the ultimate sign spring is here! Every year, this magnificent pair of eagles return to raise a new generation. I walk near this tree every few days as its on one of my favorite walks.
