Every morning, my thoughts come pouring in as I awake and they need to be coaxed to settle before the day begins. The best way for me to accomplish this, is to lie quietly in bed and stare out upon the world observing what is unfolding.
Stellar Jays stop by on their regular peanut routes to see if we’re moving inside the house. The warmth of the lighting as the sun was chasing away the fog and how it touched the bird’s silhouette was a joyful moment!
Self Driving Animal Cars Doodle
Dipping my toe in the morning newsfeeds on my computer is as far as I go these days. Do you feel the same way? The weight of the world can plummet one through the floor if you are not careful.
I saw an article mentioning driverless cars and my imagination kicked in to let this daily doodle emerge upon my sketchbook page! It is a magical moment when we experience these unexpected instant sparks.
A smile spreads across my face as I visualize future roads filled with little vehicles whisking our pets here and there.
Hello Mondo The Dog
The community where I live is Madison Park and a wonderful area to walk. This town is filled with dog lovers so I always find a new canine friend to meet. Mondo is a Korean rescue dog and irresistible as you can see. When we met, I instantly got a two paw let’s dance greeting and we became buddies!
Please take a minute to share a memorable moment(s) of greeting you have had with a new canine friend or have with your dog at home. I’m researching for a new fictional book about a dog that comes to Earth changing it for the better. It would be a huge help to hear what experiences you have had in the comments below and I thank you in advance.
Blackwing Pencil Awakening
The other night, my artistic self confidence took a nose dive and I felt frozen. As I gazed around the studio, nothing looked right or felt “good enough.” I could not turn off the studio light and go to sleep with these thoughts.
Well, let me share a new secret technique I tried that might work for you.
Pick up any mark making tool and scribble anything without thinking! Use any surface as long as you can write on it. What appeared before your eyes?
I jumped in by using my favorite Blackwing pencil and began scratching the graphite into the paper forming a rectangular shape. A warm feeling of encouragement touched me on the shoulder so I continued to scribble.
This sassy pup appeared. She was looking down so I thought what would she be seeing. These words popped into my mind and I’m now on day 5 out of 30 days. Before I head to bed, a no pressure drawing is doodled and seeing the expressive mark marking in these simple characters gives me a sense of creative well being.
When they’re done, I’ll share a sketchbook flip through with all of you. Below, is a character doodle of my pencil on the move :)
Idea Sparks
Do you ever wonder how entrepreneurs get their sparks of inspirations for products or inventions? My love of learning and curiosity are always circling around me wherever I am. When I happen upon a correlation of visual things, a wondrous note of joy sounds! For the photo above, I had to wait a couple times walking through this neighborhood for the sunlight to be just right in this yard.
The fading blue hydrangea and electric holiday decorative ball are within a couple feet of one another. When I saw these side by side, it felt like a moment of discovery! Did the designer of this popular seasonal electric decoration find their imaginative spark in a hydrangea flower? I like to think they did :)
Happy Holidays Coco!
