Beach Comb Rock Pattern Design Joy!
The treasures of motifs hidden in the rocks upon the beach are amazing!
Radish Beach Comb Rock Pattern
This rock caught my eye as we walked along the beach. Itโs a perfect motif for a pattern design. I have to limit what I can physically carry back to use and always return the rocks back to nature.
Art Supplies Used On Vacation
Itโs always interesting to see what art supplies artists bring along on vacation to create with. Watercolors are not my strength, so I challenged myself to use them. I cheated a bit, bringing along my tube of white Titanium Acryla Gouache, gesso, and some matte medium.
Ebeyโs Landing
If you ever travel to Whidbey Island in Washington State, this is a hike to put on your must-do list. Ebeyโs Landing is a gem!
Beach Combing for rocks here is pure inspiration, and the beauty of this place touches your soul. Every time I have the gift of spending time here, the rocks of inspiration are different due to the dramatic tide changes.
The upper hike portion of Ebeyโs takes you high above the ocean with views that make you feel like you are flying like a bird. If youโre lucky, an eagle may thermal by at eye level!
This is the view as you descend to the water. The upper hike portion gets your heart rate up, and then you experience the calm of walking on the beach.
I would love to hear from you about your favorite places to hike or beach comb. Please leave a comment (and photos if you want) so we can all share with one another wherever we are in the world.
Wing The Pencil Scribbled A Llama, Emu, And Hedgehog!
Phil, George, And Raymond Had Grand Adventures
llamas have the best scruffy coats to create scribbling with a pencil. The emu and hedgehog were discovered as I searched through the Animals of the World photographic book in my studio. Their textural qualities were perfect to accompany my llama on this sketchbook page.
I started this Blackwing pencil scribbling series as a 30-day project but will continue for as long as it sparks my creativity. For this reason, Iโm dating them as they are completed, so this is the 47th sketch out of 47 days.
Maurice The Moveable Duck Project Idea Generator
This project started with this Wing sketchbook doodle I created a few months back, as shown above. This character is called to be made moveable! I rescued some cardboard on its way to our recycle bin and painted it white. The videos below share the creative process of making Maurice The Moveable Duck.
Maurice The Duck Stop Motion
Making stop motion is so entertaining and FUN! With this short video, I had to take 69 photos to make this flow correctly. You have to move everything by hand and click per image. I highly recommend using a handheld remote clicker so you do not jiggle or move your camera. I have a Canvas light that holds your phone plus illuminates everything beautifully. The Stop Motion Studio app is very user-friendly and offers great tutorials. This is family fun and brings out the kid inside everyone of all ages!

There's nothing better than walking a long stretch of deserted beach for getting one's head together...how beautiful! And thanks for the moveable duck!
I totally agree with Anne and taking a brisk walk along an empty beach inhaling the salty sea!
